'Nobody's Coming To Save Us!' Eagles D-Line Self-Scouting: Philadelphia Tracker

JUNE 17 NO SAVIOR Fletcher Cox is retired, leaving behind him a talented D-line group that feels it has plenty to prove.

“It is an adjustment,” said Jordan Davis, a big part of that Eagles talent pool “I ain't gonna sit here and lie. ... It's us. So, we can't sit there and think about if Fletch was here and blah, blah, blah …we have to go out and we have to make sure that we put our best foot forward and we continue that. Nobody's coming to save us.''

'Nobody's Coming To Save Us!' Eagles D-Line Self-Scouting: Philadelphia Tracker

The Eagles have a new defensive coordinator in Vic Fangio, but no, he's not a "savior,'' either. Really, it's part of the natural process. Older guy out, younger guy in.

Davis knows it.

"So,'' he said, "what you gonna do? What we gonna do?"

JUNE 17 OWNER KELCE? Jeffrey Lurie is working on selling a piece of his team. And guess what? Jason Kelce wants to buy a piece of the Philadelphia Eagles.

It's a match, right?

Lurie bought the Eagles from Norman Braman in 1994 for $185 million, and now the franchise is now worth about $7.5 billion.

And during a recent “New Heights” podcast, the retired center and future "Monday Night Football'' analyst said that he’d quit ESPN deal to own a piece of his beloved Eagles.

“Listen, I’ll back out of the TV deal right now if you tell me I could own the Philadelphia Eagles,” Jason said.

Sounds like a plan?

MAY 14 EAGLES BEAT WASHINGTON Jason Kelce is in at "Monday Night Football," with Robert Griffin III being shoved aside.

Kelce, the recently retired Eagles icon, is a hot property in part due to his "New Heights'' podcast success. And RGIII? He'll still have a place at ESPN, it is being reported ... but his profile will shrink a bit as Kelce's grows.

MAY 14 BIGGEST IMPACT? NFL.com has issued a list of the "biggest impact'' trade guys and the Eagles are mentioned ... as a "loser'' of sorts.

The list credits the Jets for their acquisition of Reddick, who of course does indeed count as an on-field loss for Philly. But ...

The story doesn't tell the whole story.

Tom Blair of NFL.com's ranking of the 10 traded players who will have the biggest impact has Reddick as the No. 6 guy. That's legit. But the full story is also about Reddick leaving for the Jets while GM Howie Roseman signed a D-line replacement in Bryce Huff away from the Jets ...

Fangio Failure? Eagles Coach Accused of 'Relationship' Problem; Vic Reacts

Meaning, in the eyes of the Eagles, they didn't really "lose'' at all.

MAY 12 LEBRON TD? Jason Kelce’s next act after his Hall of Fame football career with the Philadelphia Eagles is expected to be an analyst on Monday Night Football.

He’s not a general manager. Not, yet. Maybe never.

That doesn’t mean he can’t play one. Kelce suggested that NBA superstar and certain Hall of Fame player in his sport, LeBron James, could be developed into an NFL red-zone threat within a year.

Never mind that James is on the brink of turning 40. Or that he probably wouldn’t be open to the idea. Why would he?

Kelce was simply responding to a debate that was spurred by NBA role player Austin Rivers regarding whether NFL players could hypothetically hold their own in the NBA, and vice versa.

ESPN analyst Ryan Clark chimed in, saying that the mental fortitude required to play football would be too difficult for some NBA players. Kelce disagreed when it came to James.

The former Eagles center went to social media and wrote:

“I love this argument and passion from Ryan, and as a football player my mind is screaming hell yeah!!! But, if I was an NFL GM, and it was an option, I'd sign LeBron today and within one offseason he'd be the greatest red zone threat in the NFL.”

Kelce Reveals 'Guarantee' of Troubling Medical Issue

James’ size certainly makes it an intriguing thought. He is 6-8 and is athletic enough to make a go of it.

The question is, though, at 39, would James want to change careers?

Not likely.

Kelce never said James would. He was just offering an opinion and may not be done with his foray into the world of being a GM. Already, he seems to be showing some outside-the-box thinking.
