Simple item drivers are urged to add to cars to boost fuel economy
Adding the right oil to your engine will make it more efficient
Drivers looking to stretch their miles per gallon are being directed to pour a common solution into their cars.
Motor finance expert Crystal Voogd from '5 Star Loans' highlights the significance of "energy conserving" oil in maximising fuel economy. It's reported that the friction-reducing additives contained in the oil can enhance vehicle efficiency. With fuel prices still sky-high, this timely advice could see motorists saving those much-needed pounds at the pumps.
Crystal told drivers: "Opt for motor oils labelled as 'energy conserving'. These oils contain friction-reducing additives that improve fuel economy." Engine oil is essential in maintaining the smooth function of a car's moving parts, preventing excessive friction and potential component damage. Industry leaders at Mobil also emphasize the importance of low-friction oils in aiding fuel economy.
RAC specialists pointed out that last month saw a 2.4p decrease in the average price for a litre of unleaded petrol, bringing costs down to 147.88p from 150.31p - equating to around a £1.30 saving per tank. However, supermarket prices were down just 1.2p suggesting motorists should be receiving more discounts than they are currently getting, reports the Express.
Meanwhile, the RAC Fuel Watch comparison site stressed that petrol and diesel prices 'should fall". The RAC has previously admitted the role that good quality motor oil could play in helping drivers cut back on fuel usage. They explained: "Motor oil can also improve fuel economy, cool the engine, and reduce emissions.
"Depending on the type of oil your vehicle requires, you should consider its additives. Additives are chemicals that are added to the oil to improve its performance.
"Common additives include detergents, dispersants, and anti-wear agents. These additives can help keep your engine clean and running smoothly."
