Perth set for street racing event at Burswood Park in 2026 as part of new world-class motor event
Attention all Revheads, V8s could soon be racing around Perth streets as part of a new world-class motor sports event.
The Cook Government has revealed that plans have begun for street racing at Burswood Park, with 2026 earmarked for the first event.
Roads in the area would be upgraded and converted into a V8 racetrack, with the event complimented by a 10-day festival in Perth and Kwinana.
“Living in Kwinana, I know how big our motorsports community is in WA,” Premier Roger Cook said. “We’ve seen the success of street circuits over east, and Burswood Park would be the perfect place for a uniquely WA V8 event.”

Perth has hosted several big entertainment and sporting events over the past year.
Coldplay, WWE wrestling, UFC, and English and Italian football events are just some of the big spectacles enticed to Perth by the Cook Government for undisclosed fees.
The Premier said Perth has a unique opportunity to become an entertainment super city for South East Asian tourism.
“I want Perth to be one of the major events capitals of the South East Asian region,” Mr Cook said. “Major events bring tens of thousands of visitors to our State, creating local jobs, supporting local business and helping our economy remain strong.”
Perth already hosts the Supercars SuperSprint event at Wanneroo Raceway, which attracted more than 30,000 attendees across three days in 2023.
The street circuit — based on a highly successful model of street racing in Townsville and the Gold Coast — would see roads around Burswood Park converted into a V8 race track, allowing around 50,000 local and interstate revheads to turn out each day for a multi-day race event.
The event would require infrastructure upgrades at Burswood Park, which the Government is now examining in further detail, with the hope the track could be ready for the 2026 season.
Permanent grandstands and upgrades to the park would be included, creating public access year-round, and also providing a new track for local motorsport enthusiasts.
Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti met with Supercars in Melbourne earlier this year to progress the idea.
“Imagine the noise, atmosphere, and crowds as V8s fly around a new and specially designed race track in Burswood Park, just a stone’s throw from the city. It’ll be incredible,” Ms Saffioti said.
“The Supercars SuperSprint at Wanneroo has been a much-loved event on the annual tourism calendar for many years now, and this will no doubt take it to the next level on a much bigger stage for more fans and visitors to enjoy.
“We know how passionate and enthusiastic motorsport fans are, and I know locally they’ve been wanting this to happen for some time — particularly when they’ve seen similar circuits built in other cities across the country.
“It’s really exciting to see this vision start to become a reality, and of course will have broader community benefits year-round with permanent grandstands and upgrades to the park.”
It’s understood the government also has the popular E championship series in its sights if the street circuit is developed.
