The shocking reason Roosters star Dominic Young was pulled over police - and why his NRL club will foot the bill

Young winger was pulled over by cops in Maroubra Stems from an incident that happened back in February Fortunately for Young, his club was able to resolve the issue

Normally when an NRL player is pulled over by police it is a very serious matter for their club, but fortunately for Sydney star Dominic Young the Roosters have his back.

Young was reportedly pulled over by police in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra last week for a very unusual reason.

News Corp has reported that police pulled the Great Britain representative over because he has an outstanding ambulance bill.

The bill came after an NRL trial match in Gosford in February.

Young was taken to hospital after Sydney's game against Manly in a neck brace after a crusher tackle from Manly prop Toff Sipley.

Sipley received a three-match suspension and missed out on an opportunity to represent the Sea Eagles in the Las Vegas season opener, while Young received a bill in the mail from NSW Ambulance.

In New South Wales, residents receive a 49 per cent subsidy but still need to pay 51 per cent of the cost when they need an ambulance.

'I thought it was accidental and didn't look good,' Roosters coach Trent Robinson said of Sipley's tackle at the time.

'There was a lot of force at that point.'

Young reportedly thought the bill had been sent to the Sydney Roosters, but it had been mailed to him directly.

News Corp has reported that the Roosters will pay the bill for him now that is been revealed.

Young was a high profile signing by the club this season after he exploded onto the NRL scene with the Newcastle Knights.

He is a crucial member of the Roosters backline with Billy Smith injured, Joseph Aukuso-Suaalii suspended for his shocking high shot on Reece Walsh and Michael Jennings the latest to join the swelling casualty ward.

Young has played 61 NRL matches and scored 52 tries, including nine this season in 10 appearances for the Roosters.

Young was ruled out with a minor hamstring strain for the Roosters most recent match against Parramatta but is expected to return against the Bulldogs on Saturday.
