Exactly how long sunshine in London will last as temperatures set to plummet

BBC Weather has forecast that the sunshine in London will not last long, with temperatures set to plummet from the scorching highs we have seen recently.

With temperatures set to stay positively high today (Wednesday, June 26), it won't be long before the weather starts to fall down to something, whilst still hot, not near what we are experiencing now. Then, inevitably as Wimbledon starts next week, the rain will return and drench our fair capital in a deluge of rain over several days.

Today will see London bask in the sun with temperatures, hitting highs of 29C from 3pm. The night will still be hot, with it not dipping below 20 degrees until 3am.

Thursday (June 27) will see the hot weather stay albeit cooler than today. The dry weather stays with sunny intervals, a gentle breeze and highs of 25 degrees. Friday (June 28) is much the same as Thursday except that temperatures fall still, down to 23 degrees with lows of 11 for the day.

Saturday (June 29) Will see there be more uninterrupted sun with clouds not starting to form until 1pm. From then on there will be sunny intervals for the rest of the day, with the clouds here actually acting a foreboding as to what is to come.

Sunday (June 30) will see the first bit of rain welcomed to London. Drizzle will settle in at 11am, turning into light rain by 12pm. Luckily that is the only rain we will see on Sunday with temperatures now down to 21 degrees.

Rain at Wimbledon

Next Monday, July 1, will be the first day of Wimbledon and a dry day too. Sunny intervals and highs of 22 degrees get the annual tennis tournament started before the next three days see rain put a dampener on things.

On Tuesday (July 2) rain is forecast for almost the whole day with it only stopping at 8pm. The next day - Wednesday, July 3 - there is nonstop rain forecast from 8am into July 4 and onwards until 6pm that day, 34 hours of continuous downpour.
