WOW: Nasreddine Nabi pays R1.16 million to Kaizer Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have started their preseason training at Naturena on Monday, as per earlier reports.

The new era will only begin officially when incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi arrives at Chiefs post his AS FAR commitments.

Nabi set for Chiefs move

It has been the worst kept secret that Nabi will be joining Chiefs ahead of next season. Everything escalated quickly in this month of June. At the very beginning, Amakhosi managed sifted through a shortlist featuring plenty of candidates. As May ended, it was believed that three coaches had a real chance of being the next Amakhosi mentor. Pitso Mosimane, who was considered the long-term favourite, and Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos were along side Nabi for the role.

As soon as Chiefs made their decision to go for Nabi, they left no stone unturned. The club sent a delegate of senior official to meet the Tunisian tactician in Rabat. There they presented a vision and the prospect of the coach bringing his own technical staff over. Furthermore, they agreed terms with AS FAR for an early release of their man.

The very next week it was confirmed by Moroccan reports that Chiefs had also agreed terms with Nabi. Now according to KickOff.com it is the coach himself, who had to pay a lump sum to be granted an early release!

Not without paying a big fee, however,

“In agreeing to a deal with Chiefs which will come with better perks, Nabi has merely activated a clause in his contract for his departure. Nabi will pay the army club two months’ worth of his salary from his pocket as compensation to get out of his contract. This is what ‘The Militarians’ will have also paid if the decision to cut ties had come from them. Such clauses are prevalent in the game. Nabi is earning a gross of 30 000 Euro (approx. R582 000) at FAR Rabat, which means compensation from his pocket to get his way out will come up to about R1,16 million.”. Wrote the publication.

This should put a smile on the face of Chiefs fans, however, as it shows the level of dedication he has to the cause. How pleased are you with Nabi’s action’s Khosi fans?
