Massive heat dome brings dangerous temperatures to Atlantic Canada
We are continuing to track an impressive heat wave that's not only making its way across Ontario, Quebec, but also across the Atlantic Canada provinces in the span of around two to four days this upcoming work week. We have that Ridge of high pressure. It's strong, it continues to build and it's trapping in that hot ocean heat is compressing it. The surface, meanwhile, warming our surface temperatures into the 30s and temperatures structure overnight won't be cooling down as I usually do. They'll be seeing into the high teens, low 20s. And now, because we're not seeing much relief from the heat, the threat for a heat stroke and heat exhaustion increases. With this heat Dome chain reaction here now looking at Tuesday, we can start to see the human X values across Ontario and Quebec into the 40s. Into the low to mid 30s across the Maritime provinces. And yes, so we're looking at the humidity because trying it from the Gulf of Mexico, widespread across Eastern Canada, lots of moisture within their atmosphere. So we could also be looking at a threat for some pop storms. Along this boundary, with the heat incoming this upcoming work week, here's a look at June Human X records across the Maritime provinces. Reaching in around 40 to 43 now potentially we could be breaking some of these records as we head into your upcoming work week. Now for Thursday, temperatures are going to be into the low to mid 30s here. That is 10 to 15° above where we should be for this time of year. So make sure you are hydrated rather and staying cool to avoid heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
