President Biden has taken his election campaign to Hollywood, enlisting powerful actors and entertainers to spread his message. 9 US correspondent Lawrence Massey is live. Lauren, good morning to you. He didn't miss an opportunity to take a swipe. He certainly didn't call. Good morning to you. the US president really firmly laying out his case against Donald Trump at this star-studded fundraiser where we saw George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Barbra Streisand, Jack Black all in attendance along with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who was moderating a discussion between Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama. The three spoke on stage here in Los Angeles for around 40 minutes, both the president and his old boss delivering a series of warnings about what they say a second Donald Trump term would look like, really framing this year's presidential election as an inflection point in history. The idea that they're threatening, I mean, the idea that he's actually is threatening retribution. This is the United States of America. Did you ever think you'd ever, ever, ever hear anything like this? Retribution, That's what he's going to do. He's going to get back at people. And it just, I don't want to get going. That star-studded event here in Los Angeles raised a record 45,000,000 Australian dollars for Joe Biden's re-election campaign, which is a record for the Democrats. But on the other side of this, Donald Trump is really storming ahead in his own fundraising, especially since that criminal conviction. Now, as the two battle it out in terms of fundraising, they will soon be battling it out on the stage. It's just over a week away now until the first presidential debate where we'll see Joe Biden and Donald Trump come face to face in Atlanta, GA Carl Lauren, thank you.
