Salman Khan firing case: Mumbai Police arrest one in Rajasthan over video threatening to kill Salman Khan
In a dramatic turn of events, the Mumbai Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan on charges of criminal intimidation after he allegedly uploaded a video threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The suspect, identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar from Bundi, Rajasthan, claimed in the video that he had ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs, notorious criminal outfits.
According to the crime branch official who spoke to PTI, Gujar uploaded the threatening video to his YouTube channel. In the video, he made a chilling declaration: "Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and other gang members are with me, and I am going to kill Salman Khan as he did not apologize yet." The video, which was filmed on a highway in Rajasthan, quickly gained attention due to the serious nature of the threats and the individuals implicated.
Considering the gravity of the situation, the Mumbai Police took swift action. A team was dispatched to Rajasthan to investigate and apprehend Gujar. The suspect was subsequently arrested and brought to Mumbai, where he is currently being held for questioning. The case has been registered at a cyber police station in Mumbai, indicating the involvement of digital evidence and online activities.
The police are now verifying whether Gujar has any prior criminal background. The official stated, "We are verifying if Gujar has any prior criminal background." He has been arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation), and provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about Gujar’s connections and intentions.
This arrest comes in the wake of a series of events targeting Salman Khan. In April, two motorbike-borne men fired shots outside Khan's residence in Bandra. Six people were arrested in that case, with one suspect, Anuj Thapan, allegedly dying by suicide in police custody in May. Navi Mumbai Police had also arrested five individuals, including a suspected member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs, in connection with a separate plot to target Khan.
Police previously stated that four gang members had conducted reconnaissance around Khan's farmhouse, his Bandra residence, and his filming locations. This suggests a well-coordinated effort to monitor the actor's movements and plan an attack. Authorities are now planning to seek custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Prison in connection with the firing case. His brother Anmol, believed to be in Canada, is also wanted in connection with the case.
Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, has been a target of threats from various criminal elements over the years. The current situation underscores the persistent risks he faces and the lengths to which law enforcement must go to ensure his safety. Khan’s fans and the film industry at large have expressed their concern and support for the actor during these turbulent times.
As the legal proceedings continue, the focus will be on gathering sufficient evidence to prosecute Gujar and any associates involved in the plot. The use of digital platforms to issue threats is a growing concern for law enforcement, and this case highlights the need for stringent measures to monitor and control such activities.
The arrest of Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar has garnered significant media attention, with many outlets reporting on the potential implications for Salman Khan’s safety. The public has reacted with a mix of outrage and concern, emphasizing the need for stronger measures to combat criminal activities that threaten public figures.
