UK's new £18,000,000 rollercoaster 'breaks down' leaving people stuck 236ft up

The UK’s tallest rollercoaster ‘broke down’ days after reopening, leaving thrill-seekers stuck 236ft in the air.
Passengers on Hyperia at Thorpe Park, in Surrey, were stranded for an hour as they waited for the ride to be repaired.
The £18,000,000 rollercoaster was launched last month but closed just a day later due to ‘unforeseen’ circumstances.
The ride reopened on Wednesday this week, but came to a halt yesterday.
One park goer said a man went up with a harness to speak to the passengers before coming back down, the Mirror reports.
The ride was eventually restarted and returned to its station, where those onboard were able to disembark safely, the theme park said.
A spokesperson confirmed there was a ‘short delay’ of an hour on the ride and added: ‘Stoppages are perfectly normal and commonly experienced in theme parks everywhere.

‘At no stage was there any safety concerns for guests.’
Posting on X, one user wrote about the incident: ‘Hyperia stuck again with people on it. Been there for over an hour now. One of the staff making their way up to give them a bit of lunch.’
Thorpe Park claim the rollercoaster is not just the UK’s tallest, but also the fastest, reaching speeds of 80mph.
