PM Extends Eid al-Adha Best Wishes to Ethiopian Muslims
Addis Ababa, June 15/2024(ENA) Extending his best wishes to Muslims on Eid al-Adha, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has urged Ethiopians to pay the necessary sacrifices for the prosperity of the country.
Eid al-Adha, one of the religious holidays of Muslims across the globe, will be celebrate tomorrow.
The holiday is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
The premier said in his best wish message that there are a lot of lessons that we can draw from the celebration of Eid al-Adha. Among them is the lesson that the rewards for overcoming challenges with endurance exceed the challenges themselves.
The Government of Ethiopia set out to attain development realizing that prosperity requires significant obstacles to overcome, he stated, noting that the enormous problems facing the country had been accumulated over time without being solved.
However, the government was left with no choice but to pay the price for saving the nation, protecting the long-term interests of citizens, and build a greater country.
“There are no people or nations that prospered without sacrifices,” the premier stressed.
He further pointed out that there would be no obstacle that hinders us from achieving peace, if we are all willing to sacrifice emotional and other baggage for the sake of peace.
The PM emphasized the need to sacrifice attitudes, habits and ideologies that have been growing within us for the sake of the people and the country as the reward of such moves will be more than peace.
The national dialogue will be successful only by contributing better ideas and great knowledge with the necessary sacrifices of self-interest, he added.
Abiy finally urged all citizens to make themselves ready for sacrifice for the sake of their country by opting for peaceful path and exert efforts for development.
“To make our peace lasting, let's prepare to sacrifice some of the things that we nurtured and raised so that the national dialogue could be carried out everywhere in Ethiopia.Let our thoughts be disarmed. Let's go back to plowing. Let's substitutes guns with mowers, do away with rifle and move to consultations.Let's move from ethnic conflict to debates. Let us be ready to sacrifice even what we love and nurture for the sake of the country.”
