Opponent of peace: How Russia wants to disrupt Summit on Ukraine in Switzerland

Attempt to disrupt the Summit

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated back in April that Russia wants to disrupt the Peace Summit in Switzerland. Referring to intelligence reports, the head of state specified that the enemy had developed a specific plan for this.

According to Zelenskyy, Moscow wanted as few countries as possible to participate in the event. Thus, peace would be further delayed.

The plans of Russia for the Peace Summit were also warned about by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak. He mentioned that the enemy is "using any methods" to disrupt it.

In particular, as Yermak clarified, the Russians are "working" with countries, politicians, and media.

At the same time, the President of Ukraine explained such actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin by his fear of the Summit's results. Through this event, they could compel adherence to international security norms.

Methods of the Kremlin

In recent weeks, Ukraine has revealed the methods Russians resort to in order to disrupt the Peace Summit.

In particular, President Zelenskyy mentioned that Moscow pressures leaders and threatens various states with destabilization.

Later, the head of state clarified the threats used by the Kremlin in attempts to disrupt the Summit.

"They (Russia) are currently traveling to many countries around the world, threatening with a blockade of food, agricultural, or chemical products. Threatening to dump energy prices... Just pressuring other countries around the world not to attend the Summit," Zelenskyy noted.

He also added that some countries have started to assist Russia in its attempts to disrupt the meeting of leaders of several states in Switzerland.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that the Russians use three types of opposition to the Peace Summit:

- Sending letters and making statements that the event has no value;

- Attempting to persuade countries not to attend the Summit;

- Trying to convince countries that agreed to participate to be represented there at the lowest level.

Remarkably, despite these attempts by the Russians, over 100 countries have already announced their participation in the summit.
