Zelenskyy holds talks with Indian Prime Minister Modi, invites him to Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held phone talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He invited the Prime Minister to Ukraine, according to the President's Telegram channel.

“I had a phone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to congratulate him on his election victory. I wished him a swift formation of the government and fruitful work for the prosperity of the Indian nation," wrote the President.

According to Zelenskyy, during the talks:

・the parties discussed preparations for the Peace Summit. The President expects India to participate at the highest level;

・Modi was invited to visit Ukraine.

India's position on the war in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, India has declared a neutral position on the war. Moreover, New Delhi has not yet publicly condemned Russia.

In January, Reuters reported that India still plans to phase out Russian weapons and distance itself from Moscow. At the same time, it is concerned that this move could push Russia closer to China.

Also, recently, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba warned India about “red lines” in case of support for Russia's military machine.
