Mysterious creature found washed up on beach dubbed 'stuff of nightmares'
A man was left shocked after he spotted a mysterious creature with "venomous spines" that had washed up on a beach.
Dennis Chan said he stumbled across the "uncommon sight" which was buried in the sand in Singapore. Upon closer expectation, he realised that the fish was a long-nosed stargazer, which was staring up at the sky. It is believed that there are over 50 species of fish and some feature an organ that creates electricity.
Dennis warned that they possess a powerful sting but it didn't seem to put him off investigating the creature. In a video he posted on Instagram, Chan showed his followers a close-up of the fish before it vanished back into the sand after gasping for air. The clip racked up 1.2m views and over one million likes.

Instagram users said the fish was 'terrifying'
Speaking about his discovery, Dennis said: “An uncommon and fascinating sight, these quirky fish bury themselves in the sand with only their heads exposed, seemingly gazing at the stars while waiting for unsuspecting prey." He added: "They are similar to stonefishes and scorpion fishes, which means they also possess venomous spines that can deliver painful stings.” Despite Dennis finding the fish interesting, other social media users described it as "pretty terrifying" and told him to "unfind it".
Stanley said: “This is now my sleep paralysis demon…never going in water…again.” Whilst Matthew commented: “New fear unlocked.” Another commented: "And people make fun of me for having a fish phobia. Look at that thing He's scary as hell." Another user couldn't believe the fight of it and said it "looks fake", whilst someone else said they would have got a "heart attack straight away."
