'Mysterious monolith' appears in UK after similar sightings in Las Vegas and Wales

Law enforcement officers are scratching their heads after stumbling upon a shiny monolith in the remote mountains near Las Vegas. The peculiar structure caught the attention of authorities when it was seen shimmering from afar in the arid hills above the city.

The mirrored entity was encountered by members of a local search and rescue team close to Gass Peak, situated within Nevada's Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Taking to social media, officers expressed their bewilderment at how the futuristic-looking monolith ended up alone in the Mojave Desert. This isn't the first time such an anomaly has been observed in the area.

Las Vegas police posted a photo of the enigmatic find on X, commenting: "We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water... but check this out!"

"Over the weekend, (LV Search and Rescue) spotted this mysterious monolith near Gass Peak north of the valley," reports the Mirror. This incident joins a series of similar discoveries, with reports of enigmatic metallic pillars appearing globally since at least 2020.

The first of these mysterious structures was a 12-foot-tall metal monolith, akin to the one spotted in Las Vegas, unearthed in the depths of Utah's desert back in November 2020. Initially, its location was shrouded in secrecy by officials who feared an influx of the public might end up lost or stranded in the vast desert while trying to locate this peculiar artifact.

Since that initial discovery, there have been reports of similar monoliths cropping up in places like Romania, central California, and even on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. Fast forward to March 2024, and a 10ft monolith has now surfaced on a hill in Wales, leaving locals scratching their heads in bewilderment.

Richard Haynes, who snapped pics of the Welsh monolith during a run on Hay Bluff, shared with WalesOnline: "I went off towards Hay Bluff towards where the trig point is and I looked over to my right. I thought it looked a bit bizarre and might be a scientific media research thing collecting rainwater.

"But then realised it was way too tall and strange for that. Then I went up to it and it was about 10-foot-tall at least and triangular, definitely stainless steel. It was hollow and I imagine pretty light. Light enough for two people to carry it up and plant it in the ground."

Some weeks after its initial discovery, a quartet of men toppled and smashed the Utah monolith, claimed an eyewitness. The words from one of the men, "this is why you don't leave trash in the desert," echoed as they carted off the remainders in a wheelbarrow.
