Zelenskyy comments on US permission to strike Russia with American weapons

The USA has signaled to Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia with American weapons today, May 31. The message was transmitted through the military, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference at the third Ukraine-Northern Europe summit.

According to Zelenskyy, a message was received from the American side, and today he received this message from the military. The President said he could not disclose the details.

Zelenskyy noted he would like to see what happened in practice. However, he believes that the US decision to use the provided weapons is a step forward and for Ukraine, it is an opportunity to protect the residents of the border areas.

What preceded it

Today, it has been officially announced that the United States has permitted Ukraine to use US weapons to strike at Russian territory. However, Washington has set a restriction: US weapons can be used only in the border areas of the Kharkiv region.

Germany also made a similar decision. Berlin has permitted Ukraine to strike at the border areas of the Russian Federation to protect Kharkiv.

According to Bild, Germany has allowed Ukraine to strike at a distance of up to 40 kilometers in Russia. Two German weapons systems are being considered for strikes - the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzer and the Mars II armored multiple-launch rocket system.
