The pro-Russian Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, sharply criticized the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. Such statements do not differ from those of the Russian leadership, according to SOVA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

What Kobakhidze said

Kobakhidze, amidst protests in Georgia, promised that "no one will see a Maidan in the country."

According to him, as a result of the Revolution of Dignity, the government in Ukraine was appointed from outside several times.

"Before 2013, Ukraine was a state with territorial integrity, with a $200 billion economy, and today the country has collapsed, the economy has qualitatively shrunk over the years, 20% of the country's territory is occupied, tens of thousands of people have died, and who will take responsibility for this?" - added the controversial official.

Ukraine's reaction

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Kobakhidze's latest unfriendly remarks about Ukraine and his distorted assessments of events.

The department emphasized that the Georgian Prime Minister's statements were unacceptable and offensive.

"It is not Ukraine that is defending itself, but exclusively Russia, which treacherously attacked our land, responsible for thousands of lost lives, the destruction of Ukrainian cities and villages," they added at the Ministry.

At the same time, they pointed out that in his statement, Kobakhidze never mentioned the word "Russia."

“It is regrettable to observe the consistent and constant degradation of the political statements of the Georgian Prime Minister, which have recently become difficult to distinguish from those of the Russian leadership,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Ministry called on Georgian politicians to refrain from making such statements about Ukraine.

Protests in Georgia

Protests are ongoing in Georgia after the parliament passed the controversial law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence."

The initiative was sharply criticized in the West. In particular, the European Union emphasized that the country is moving away from joining the bloc.
