The day ‘Salah’ turned down Kaizer Chiefs’ dream target Pitso Mosimane

A former Al Ahly star has reflected on the day he turned down an opportunity to reunite with the great Pitso Mosimane. We doubt Kaizer Chiefs would turn this man down!

SALAH MOHSEN REJECTS PITSO MOSIMANE

Former Al Ahly star Salah Mohsen has opened up about rejecting a reunion with Pitso Mosimane in the Saudi Pro League. The 25-year-old attacker, now with Egyptian side El Masry, worked with Mosimane at Al Ahly. He made 44 appearances under ‘Jingles’ with the Egyptian giants, and that stint together convinced Pitso that Mohsen could be helpful in his current plight. Mosimane is now in charge of Saudi Pro League strugglers Abha club; his mandate is to keep them in the top flight. Mohsen has revealed he was asked about a move to Abha but politely declined the offer of his former manager.

“Mosimane asked me to come to Saudi Arabia, but some time ago my circumstances were not good and I turned off my phone, and when [Al Masry manager] Ali Maher asked me to stay, I could not refuse,” Mohsen said to Elfagr Sport as per KickOff.com.

Is Pitso still on the Kaizer Chiefs shortlist?

Take your pick from the myriad names mentioned as potential candidates to become the next Kaizer Chiefs boss. First, there were a couple of Brazilians Alex Gallo and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Then an Iberian duo came into contention; Spaniard Raul Caneda and the Portuguese former Benfica, Spartak Moscow, Al Nassr and Egypt manager Rui Vitoria. Local names Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi are there too, of course. We’ve even forgotten about Nasreddine Nabi who ‘came close’ to becoming the boss at the start of this season. The club’s board desperately need to make the right appointment next time, but there’s no guarantee that the new coach will come from this list of names. We’ve even got theories about Lehlohonolo Seema’s suitability for the role. Are we missing anybody? There’s also no guarantee that the club’s new manager will come from this list.
