World experienced warmest April on record: What scientists say

April 2024 was the hottest April on record, continuing an 11-month streak during which every month has set a temperature record, according to the European Union's climate change monitoring service.
As noted in the monthly newsletter of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), every month since June 2023 is considered the hottest in the history of observations on the planet compared to the corresponding month in previous years.
In April, the global average temperature was the highest on record for the 12 months - 1.61 degrees Celsius above the average for the pre-industrial period of 1850-1900.
What scientists say
Newcastle University climate scientist Hayley Fowler emphasized that the world is dangerously close to violating the 2015 Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
"At what point do we declare we’ve lost the battle to keep temperatures below 1.5? My personal opinion is we’ve already lost that battle, and we really need to think very seriously about keeping below 2C and reducing our emissions as fast as we can," she says.

According to meteorologists, April in Kyiv was one of the warmest in the last 144 years.
