UK allocates funds for Ukrainian energy

The UK will allocate an additional 20 million pounds (23 million euros) to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
According to the Ministry, the British funds will be received on the account of the Fund in the near future.
The money will be used to purchase equipment to repair damaged energy infrastructure, strengthen protection, and provide backup power, including generators.
“The enemy continues to destroy the Ukrainian energy sector. The assistance of our partners is essential to carry out repairs, restore damaged facilities, and increase maneuvering capacities for the next heating season,” said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the UK has previously transferred €50 million to the Fund. The total amount of deposit is over €433 million.
Strikes on energy infrastructure
Today, on May 8, the Russian army launched another massive attack on Ukraine using cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as attack drones.
The main target of the enemy was energy infrastructure facilities. According to DTEK energy company, a total of three Ukrainian thermal power plants were damaged.
Energy facilities were attacked in six Ukrainian regions.
In total, the enemy used 55 missiles and 21 attack drones in the attack.
