It is necessary to evaluate not the statements of dictator Vladimir Putin regarding his readiness for negotiations, but his actual actions. Currently, our soldiers are defending against another enemy offensive, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

"Putin talks a lot about negotiations, but various nations have already dealt with similar dictators who only don't lie when they are silent. We need to look at the real actions of such dictators," said the President.

According to Zelenskyy, in recent weeks, our military has been defending against another enemy offensive, which is why Ukraine needs to intensify joint efforts with partners for greater security and to force the enemy into peace more effectively.

The President noted that today Ukraine and Spain signed a bilateral security agreement. Specifically, for this year, 1 billion euros in military aid has been allocated, with an additional 5 billion euros through the European Peace Facility by 2027.

Additionally, Zelenskyy welcomed Spain's interest in joint projects for weapons production and thanked Spain for its decision to provide additional ammunition and armored vehicles.

"Thirdly, I thank Spain for its unwavering support of our Ukrainian movement towards the EU and NATO. Ukraine received the decision to open negotiations on EU membership precisely during the Spanish presidency. The next logical decision will be the actual start of our accession talks," he added.

'Readiness' for negotiations

Commenting on anonymous claims about Putin's alleged readiness to freeze the war, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called them an attempt to disrupt the upcoming Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland this June.

As the minister explained, Putin fears the success of the summit because he has no desire to stop the war.

"Only a principled and united voice of the world majority can make him choose peace over war. That's what the Peace Summit is meant to achieve. That's why he fears it so much," added Kuleba.
