Brazil and India to send junior officials to Ukraine peace summit, Bloomberg reports

Brazil and India consider sending junior officials to the Ukraine peace summit, according to Bloomberg.

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is imploring leaders to attend, but Moscow is actively trying to undermine the participation of key powers. Brazil and India are floating the idea of sending more junior officials," the article says.

At the same time, according to the agency, only a high-ranking civil servant can attend the peace summit from China.

Global peace summit

The peace summit will be held in Switzerland from September 15 to 16. In total, Ukraine and Switzerland have invited more than 150 countries to the event, while Russia has not received any invitations. In particular, it has recently become known that Côte d'Ivoire will participate in the first Global peace summit on Ukraine.

Neither the Chinese leader nor the US president has confirmed their participation in the event. In particular, Wang Yi, a senior Chinese diplomat, is likely to ignore the peace summit, as he may attend the BRICS conference that will take place at the same time.

At the same time, on May 23, the governments of Brazil and China issued a joint statement on the settlement of the war between Russia and Ukraine, advocating political negotiations to achieve peace. In particular, they believe that the meeting should take place only with the participation of Russia.

Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that New Delhi would participate in all important summits, including those on Ukraine.
