Dramatic moment Florida cop shatters window to rescue one-year-old child from hot car

This is the dramatic moment a heroic Florida cop shattered a car window and rescued a one-year-old child from the hot vehicle.

Around 5pm on Monday, deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a locked car in a Walmart parking lot.

When authorities arrived, they spotted a man and woman standing outside of a red Nissan Altima while the child was locked in the car.

The officer called the fire department for assistance as the adults told him that the toddler had been in the car for 10 minutes.

He quickly worked to get the trapped child out of the hot car by breaking the window and unlocking it from the inside.

It is unclear if the adults are the children's parents and if they were charged or fined. It is also unclear where exactly the incident took place.

DailyMail.com contacted the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for more information.

Bodycam footage of the startling incident starts with the officer pulling up behind the car as he shouts: 'Sheriff's office, did y'all call?'

The adults are heard in the background saying that they did call and that a baby is in the car.

The cop quickly gets out of his patrol car and asks them if the car is running.

'Shut up, shut up,' the woman says to the man standing near her and the car.

The responding officer says: 'Whose car is it?'

'It's mine,' the woman replies.

The officer says: 'Alright, it's not on?' as he whips out a tool, looks in the car and speaks into his radio, asking how far the fire department is from the scene.

'I'm gonna smash the window here in a sec if FD's not close,' the officer tells the woman.

When the officer arrived, he approached a male and female who appeared to be arguing. The woman said that the child was locked inside her car

The woman then turns to the male behind her and says something inaudible.

'I didn't do anything,' the man tells her as the cop asks how long the child had been in the car.

'For about 10 minutes,' the woman replies.

'Alright, I'm gonna smash the window then,' the officer says as other cops respond to the scene.

'No, no, no,' the woman tells the cop.

'I have to because she's been stuck in there. I don't know how far FD is out, she's been in there for 10 minutes,' the officer tells her.

The woman asks him if he has another tool as the cop tells her that he doesn't before slamming the stick into the ground, collapsing it.

He then makes his way back to this patrol car and says: 'We're gonna have to shatter the window,' into his radio.

The officer retrieves another tool from his car before he heads back to the locked vehicle and asks the other officer: 'You've done this before?'

Moments later the officer whacks the back passenger side window with the stick-like tool and breaks the glass.

He then steps back and hits it again as the other officer walks to the side of the car.

Once he clears all of the glass from the window, the officer reaches his hand inside and unlocks the rear door.

He reaches into the car, which is filled with mountains of laundry and other items, and presses the button to unlock the car as the child cries.

The cop shuts the backseat door and opens the passenger side door as the woman picks the baby up from the driver's seat.

The video ends with the officer saying: 'Keep FD in route just to access the child,' while the adults appear to speak to the other officer.

It is unclear how the child got locked in the car and why she was found in the driver's seat.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office posted the bodycam footage on X and said that the child was 'accidentally locked inside a vehicle.'

'After the rescue, the child was determined to be in good health despite the heat exposure,' the post said.
