WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT IT?
It may not come as a surprise that local tinnie producers Brewcha Libre have teamed up with a well-known wrestling group.
Named after lucha libre, the famous Mexican style of professional wrestling, the WA brewers have unveiled a collaboration with TMDK (The Mighty Don’t Kneel) that is absolute quality.
For the uninitiated, TMDK is a group of wrestling stars hailing from Perth that have carved out a name for themselves in the Japanese pro wrestling scene.
The collab celebrates the cross-Pacific success TMDK has enjoyed — as well as the broader success of Aussie wrestlers — delivering a Pacific rice lager with a twist.
The nose is quite sweet, owing to the addition of rice as well as barley during the brewing process.
The tinnie pours a pale golden hue, with the slightest touch of haze and a dense head that has medium longevity.
On the palate, the combination of the light-touch Sorachi Ace hops (from Japan) and the fruitier galaxy hops (from Australia) provide a unique taste that is both refreshing and complex.
It’s a tinnie that’s incredibly light when you take your first sip, before developing into a slightly bitter citrus twist that serves as a welcome extra layer.
SHOULD I SHARE IT?
It’s a great beer to accompany food, and a good way to support some local wrestlers doing big things overseas.
