Community donates more than $11,000 to help young Greenfields family after house fire
The community has chipped in to help a Mandurah father and his two sons after their house was gutted in a fire sparked by a charging lithium-ion battery.
On June 16, Bowen Cook and his sons Koben and Henley lost everything in the fire at their Greenfields home on Cherrytree Court, causing $400,000 in damage.
Four firefighting crews attended and were able to stop the blaze from spreading to the back half of the home, however the young family has lost all their belongings in the blaze.

Gemma Morrison has set up a GoFundMe to help the family afford accommodation, clothes and furniture with more than $11,000 raised so far.
“Thankfully, they weren’t home at the time but since they were renting without contents insurance they tragically lost all their belongings in the fire,” Ms Morrison said.
“It will take some time for Bo and the boys to recover from this, Therefore, we have started a GoFundMe to help Bowen and his sons during this difficult time.
“Any donation will be a huge help and be greatly appreciated.”
Funds donated will go directly to Mr Cook to help towards accommodation until they find something more permanent as well as replacing items like furniture, bedding and clothing.
The fire came just days after DFES issued a warning over the potential fire dangers of the batteries, with fire crews responding to 70 fires ignited by lithium-ion batteries already this year.
