MCG specialist addresses Maroons
Good evening, An inspirational pep talk from an MCG specialist has made the Maroons even more focused for Origin. 2IN Melbourne. Adam Jackson is live at the MCGAJA. Queensland sporting legend from another code has been invited into camp. That's right John, none other than Brisbane Lions legend Michael Voss who won three straight AFL premierships at this very ground. These days he's the head coach of the Carlton Football Club down here in Melbourne, but still very much a Queenslander at even rocking a Maroons jersey at Carlton training today. Now he was brought in to talk to the Queensland Origin Group about the pressure, the expectation, the occasion, the atmosphere that comes with playing a big game at the MCG. And bear in mind for many of these Maroons plays tomorrow night will be the biggest crowd they will ever play in front of 90,000 in the stands. So a similar vibe to an AFL Grand Final that boss experienced on numerous occasions. And surprisingly, in the lead up to Origin 2:00 tomorrow night, it's the two coaches who'll become the headline acts involved in a bit of a tit for tat war for words today, where Billy Slater might just have scored an early victory for Queensland, a brief ceasefire in their coaching stand off shaking hands before a tense on stage meeting only separated by the Origin shield. She spent a fair bit of time years ago together so we're all good. Have a handshake. We did. How would you describe your relationship? We're actually not playing. Now if you know that, our days are gone. Criticised for illegally targeting Rhys Walsh in game one, Michael McGuire accused the Marines of living in glass houses. A cryptic comment believed to be directed at Billy Slaters judiciary record as a player. Ohh, I think you all worked that out so I'll I'll leave that with you guys. Slater lightning the mood when asked what his house is actually made of. It's got a bit of glass in there. The Maroons believe Walsh bears no demons from the high shot that floored him in the series opener. Oh, that's the first time I've thought about Demons and Rhys Walsh. He, he's. It's been incredible all week. He was incredible in his preparation for game one, started the game really well in game one and I expect no different. Tomorrow night will be the 6th time that State of Origin has been played at the MCG. And in all those years, Queensland has only ever won one game here way back in 1995. But if these Marons are successful, they'll wrap up this year's Origin series. We are really hopeful that it's going to be a lot of moron out there and it certainly give us a lot of energy and. We're talking nearly 100,000 people in Melbourne. Adam Jackson 9 News.
