Vaikasi Visakam significance
Tamilians worldwide celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Murugan, the god of courage, wealth, and wisdom. He's revered as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's younger son, brother to Lord Ganesha. Also known by names like Lord Senthil, Lord Kumaran, and Lord Shanmugam, Murugan is depicted with six faces (Arumugam) symbolizing his omniscient vision, encompassing all directions and realms.
On this especially auspicious day, devotees join processions carrying milk to Subramania temples. There, they perform a special abhishekam, a ritual bathing ceremony with the offering of milk, to honor Lord Murugan.
