Mani Ratnam’s Yuva turned 20 on May 21. It had an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Vivek Oberoi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Esha Deol.
It was a political thriller that flirted with themes like greed, power, and ambition. This is no news that Oberoi met with a traumatic accident during the shooting of the film that rendered him helpless for a long time.
The actor had one revealed to Zoom, “That evening when a perfectly fun day turned into pain with a terrible motorcycle accident breaking my left leg in three places. I remember my big brother Ajay and my buddy Abhishek at my side, carrying me to the hospital, being my side through the agony of broken bones tearing through my skin with blood everywhere.”
He added, “I came to know Mani Anna had a heart attack after witnessing my accident. Whilst both of us were recovering in the hospital, Ajay and Abhishek were with me, lifting my spirits with jokes and painkillers in a not-so-lucid state.”
Vivek Oberoi, who recently impressed everyone with his portrayal in Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force, revealed that Akshay Kumar helped him after he was boycotted by a certain section of Bollywood.
Vivek vented out his feelings and Akshay heard everything patiently. “‘Bata kya problem chal rahi hai teri life mein?’ he asked me and then let me vent out, air my problems, pain. He heard me patiently and said, ‘I can help you with a positive mindset. There are several shows going on, and you have blockbuster songs. I am shooting a lot, so I can’t do these shows, but whatever enquiries come to me, I will divert it to you. You do it.’
