Microsoft has announced the release of new Windows-based PCs equipped with built-in hardware for artificial intelligence called Copilot+, MacRumors reports.

What's new in computers

The manufacturer claims that Copilot+ is the fastest PC ever made. They can work on a single charge all day. The chips in these devices can perform 40 trillion operations per second and provide access to advanced models.

All Copilot+ PCs must meet certain performance requirements to guarantee the claimed high performance. They need at least 16 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a built-in neural processor.

ARM-based models with Qualcomm chips provide up to 15 hours of web browsing or 22 hours of local video playback on a single charge. They outperform the 15-inch (ca. 38 cm) MacBook Air by 58 percent in long-lasting multithreaded performance.

These new PCs are designed with hardware and system AI support in mind. Intelligent features run directly on the device, reducing latency and improving privacy capabilities.

Additional artificial intelligence features

Recall

This function provides the computer with a photographic memory. The internal search system allows you to access everything you've seen or done on your device. Content can be placed using timelines on any Snapshot-enabled website, app, or document.

Cocreator

This AI-powered image generation tool allows you to combine your sketches with text prompts to create new images using your computer's neural processors.

Restyle Image

This feature combines image generation and photo editing. You can use styles to change the background, foreground, or the entire image.

Live Captions

Live captions support simultaneous translation and can convert any audio passing through the PC into English subtitles in real time. This feature works with content in all apps and supports translation from 40 languages into English.

All Copilot+ computers are equipped with a powerful artificial intelligence agent that can be accessed with a single press of the Copilot key. There is also an AI interface that will support OpenAI's newest GPT-4o model in the future.
