Zelenskyy on frontline situation: We maintain control everywhere

Today, May 20th, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the situation in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

According to the president, Ukrainian forces maintain control everywhere.

"Russian killers actively use guided air bombs - both in the areas of the town of Chasiv Yar and in the Pokrovsk direction, and in the Liptsi area in the Kharkiv region, and in other combat zones," the president stated.

He also emphasized that this repeatedly underscores the need for air defense systems - additional protection systems that could significantly reduce difficulties for our soldiers and the threat to our cities and communities.

Defense of Kharkiv and Sumy

The President stated that this also relates to preparing our Air Force to transition to new combat aircraft.

"Unfortunately, there is still a lack of urgency in these two tasks for the free world. However, we still have prospects and promising work with several partners, doing everything possible to ensure that the day comes as soon as possible when we can add Patriot strength to our eastern regions, to our cities like Kharkiv, like Sumy, and others," he said.

The President expressed gratitude to all partners who understand this need and its significance - the real strategic power of air defense systems in this war.

Frontline situation

Ukrainian forces are holding back the pressure of the Russian military almost along the entire front line. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lack sufficient weaponry for a full-fledged defense against the occupiers.

Today, Zelenskyy stated that every decision by Western countries regarding military assistance to Ukraine comes with a delay of approximately one year.
