Ukrainian Armed Forces succeeded in certain areas of Lyman sector - General Staff

The situation at the front in Ukraine remains tense but under control. The defense forces were able to counteract the enemy's attempts to advance into the country's territory, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As reported by the General Staff, as of 23:00 on Sunday, May 19, the Russians launched four missile strikes using five missiles, 35 air strikes using 38 combat aircraft. In addition, the occupiers conducted more than 409 strikes with kamikaze drones.

Despite Russia's attempts to advance deeper into Ukraine, the Defense Forces continue to resolutely counter the occupiers' attempts. In particular, the Armed Forces had some success in one of the areas.

“The enemy did not conduct any active actions in the Lyman sector. Instead, Ukrainian soldiers kept the enemy under fire control and succeeded in certain areas,” the General Staff reported.

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, 11 combat engagements took place since the beginning of the day. The occupants carried out air strikes and kept trying to break through our defenses near Vovchansk, Starytsia, Lyptsi and Zelene. In response, Ukrainian soldiers inflicted significant losses on the invaders, information on which is being clarified. Preliminarily, the total enemy losses during the day amounted to 114 people. The enemy lost 30 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including three tanks, one armored combat vehicle, eight artillery systems, 10 unmanned aerial vehicles and eight vehicles.

In the Kupiansk direction, the number of combat engagements amounted to 12 over the last day. Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, Ivanivka and Berestove.

Fierce fighting continued in the Siversky direction since the beginning of the day. Here, during the day, Russian occupants made 23 attempts to break through the defense of our troops. The enemy tried to penetrate our defense in the area of Bilohorivka, attacking 17 times. They were unsuccessful and suffered significant losses, namely: 53 people killed and wounded, 14 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including two tanks, and 11 armored combat vehicles and another electronic warfare vehicle.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian aggressor tried 14 times to break through the defense of our troops near the settlements of Kalynivka, Novyi, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka. To support the actions of its assault units, it used guided aerial bombs. He was not successful.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders intensively. Here, during the day, the aggressor made 25 assaults on our positions, tried to increase fire control efforts in certain areas, launching air strikes using GABs. Fighting continues in the Netaylove-Yasnobrodivka area. Defense forces are taking measures to stabilize the situation.

Preliminary enemy losses in this area amounted to: 118 occupants killed and wounded, one tank and 2 armored combat vehicles destroyed, in addition, another tank, two armored combat vehicles and two artillery systems damaged.

In the Kurakhove direction, the number of engagements amounted to 10. The invaders are trying to advance to Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka and Vodiane. All attacks were repelled. The situation is under control.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made four unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of our troops in the direction of Staromayorske and Urozhayne. They were unsuccessful.

In the Prydniprovia direction, the occupiers tried six times to push our units back from Krynky. During the battles, the Russian invaders were unsuccessful, and no losses of our positions were allowed.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the occupiers failed to achieve their goal at the front.
