Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 19

Since the beginning of May 19, 105 combat engagements took place in the frontline. The situation is the most tense in the Pokrovsk and Siverske directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, Russians fired artillery at the border of Chernihiv and Sumy regions today. Luhivka, Druzhba, and Bilopillia have been added to the settlements that have been shelled since the beginning of the day.

The defense forces are responding flexibly to the Russians' actions and are taking all necessary measures to deplete the offensive potential of the Russian troops.

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, the occupants are attacking the units of the Defense Forces with the support of aviation, striking with guided aerial bombs. Since the beginning of the day, 11 combat engagements have taken place in this sector, four of which are still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, as of today, the Defense Forces have already repelled 10 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Ivanivka, Berestove and Stelmakhivka. Two more are ongoing.

In the Siverske direction, 22 hostile attacks have been repelled in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhnekamianske, Rozdolivka and Ivan-Daryivka since the beginning of the day. Another combat engagement is ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are holding the line and preventing the enemy from realizing their aggressive intentions.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy also continues to put pressure on the Defense Forces. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has tried to break through our defense 25 times. Seven clashes out of the total number of engagements in this sector are still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk and Prydniprovia directions, the intensity of hostile attacks slightly decreased in the evening. One firefight is still ongoing in each sector.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians are not succeeding in achieving their goal at the front, namely to stretch the forces of Ukrainian defenders along the entire front.
