Premier League draw up plan for if Man City slip-up and hand Arsenal the title

Arsenal and Manchester will both have Premier League trophies waiting for them should they win the title this weekend.

Both the Emirates and Etihad Stadiums will be ready to start the celebrations of league champions depending on which side prevails on Sunday, per the Evening Standard. Pep Guardiola's side currently sit two points clear of their rivals after defeating Tottenham to overtake the Gunners.

Victory will guarantee an unprecedented fourth title for City. Any slip-up against West Ham will allow Arsenal the chance of securing their first success in the division in 20 years.

With the title race having reached the final day of the season, preparations have been made to ensure a trophy can be presented regardless of the outcome. With 200 miles separating the sides on Sunday, a trophy will be situated at both grounds.

The Premier League has two trophies which are identical and are engraved with each champion from the competition's past. One remains with the division's champion throughout the season while the other is utilised by the Premier League.

It is said each stadium will also be home to identical podiums and pyrotechnics for the presentation of the trophy. The eventual Premier League champions will also have 40 winners medals for their squad and staff.

Despite the experience of his side, Guardiola is not getting ahead of himself. “On Sunday for us against West Ham, we will feel the pressure," he explained.

Pep Guardiola of Manchester City

"Look at Aston Villa (on the last day) a few seasons ago, we were 2-0 down 15 minutes to go. Sergio Aguero against QPR (in 2012) went to 93 minutes. It is normal. That is why we talk and say everyone has to relax.

"They are human beings, I understand the pressure. Not even Arsenal played well against Manchester United, they knew if they did not win there they would not win the Premier League.

“The players are not celebrating anything. Happy of course, relieved because we wanted to arrive to the last game. We know we have a job to do and our people will support us of course."
