Drone attack reported in Sevastopol and Balaklava of occupied Crimea

On the night of May 17, explosions were heard in the occupied Sevastopol area of Crimea, and air defense is underway, probably due to a drone attack, according to Russian media and local Telegram channels.

The sounds of shooting and explosions were heard in Sevastopol last night.

Russian propaganda media wrote about the work of air defense in this city and the alleged drone attack. And these drones are being shot down by the Russian invaders using small arms.

According to the Russian occupation mayor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozzayev, several objects have already been destroyed, and there is no damage to civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, closer to midnight, the sounds of explosions were reported in Crimea in the Dzhankoy district. In particular, this was reported by the Telegram channel Crimean Wind concerning its subscribers.

Later it became known that the power went out in Balaklava, although the street lights were on.

According to Crimean Wind, the Russian occupiers' air defense system is also using drones in this city.

The network suggests that Balaklava TPP may be the target of an attack.

In addition, there is also no electricity in some areas of Sevastopol, namely, Balaklava, Gagarin district, and Sakharna Holovka.

Later at night, residents of Sevastopol wrote online about a loud explosion.

Meanwhile, resident Razvozzhayev explains the problems with the power supply by the fall of the UAV wreckage on the Sevastopol substation. He claims that the facility will be repaired after the attack is repelled.

The 330 kV Sevastopol power substation is located on Chornorichenska Street, not far from the Balaklava TPP.

"So, we are right and the target of the attack was the TPP," Crimean Wind writes.

Later, the Crimean Telegram channels wrote about another explosion and the sound of shooting in Sevastopol, which was heard, tentatively, in the area of Streletskaya Bay.

The monitoring groups talked about the missile threat in Crimea.

Later, the network told about forked explosions that were heard in the Ship side of Sevastopol. They may be related to the work of the occupiers' air defense system.

The so-called mayor of Sevastopol Razvozzayev later spoke in a statement about the successful repulsion of a massive attack on the city. According to him, dozens of UAVs and more than five unmanned boats were allegedly destroyed. There were no casualties in the city.

"Specialists are starting to restore power supply," the representative of the Russian occupation administration adds.

Explosions in Crimea

In the occupied Crimea there are more and more reports of various explosions, and special operations are being conducted on the peninsula to destroy the military bases of the Russian invaders and enemy equipment. In particular, at the end of April, an airfield near Dzhankoy was attacked. Dozens of explosions were recorded there.

On the night of May 16, the Russian Federation announced another attack on the occupied Crimea. In particular, it was reported that air defense systems were operating in Sevastopol.

Later it became known that the strike hit the airfield. According to media reports, MiG-31K and S-400 Triumph air defense systems could have been hit at the Belbek airfield in Crimea.
