Drones attack oil refinery in Russia

A new drone attack has struck one of Russia's oil refineries, this time in Bashkortostan, citing Telegram channels Baza, Astra, and Mash.

"Drones targeted the Salavatnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Bashkortostan," reads the message from Baza.

According to the Telegram channel's data, a fire broke out on the premises of the plant. However, there are reportedly no casualties.

As stated in the Mash Telegram channel, there was a sound followed by an explosion. Preliminary reports suggest damage to one of the installations on the company's premises.

The Astra Telegram channel reports that local authorities have said that despite the incident, the enterprise allegedly continues to operate as usual.

It's worth noting that the refinery is owned by Gazprom.

Attacks on refineries in Russia

Recently, drones have been quite frequent in targeting oil refineries in Russia. At the end of April, it was reported that a wave of drone strikes on oil refineries deep within Russia led to a gasoline shortage.

At one point, the attacks became so frequent that, according to the Financial Times, the United States urged Ukraine to cease attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. The reason cited was the potential increase in oil prices.

Just on May 7, an oil depot of occupiers in temporarily occupied Luhansk was attacked. Currently, there are, among other issues, serious fuel shortages.
