Hellboy: The Crooked Man Trailer and Photos Reveal First Look at Rebooted Hero
A new trailer has been released for Hellboy: The Crooked Man. It introduces Jack Kesy as the third actor to play a live-action incarnation of the titular hero.
The new film is not connected to the previous Hellboy movies, which starred Ron Perlman and David Harbour. Unlike the previous movies, Hellboy: The Crooked Man is specifically based on the comic book series by Mike Mignola and Richard Corben. For this new movie, Mignola served as co-writer alongside Christopher Golden to develop an adaptation that may be more reminiscent of the source material. After they were published by Entertainment Weekly, the first trailer and new images can be seen below.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man draws inspiration from the comic book miniseries of the same name. It is set during the 1950s and tells the story of Hellboy and a rookie agent (Adeline Rudolph, Resident Evil) of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) teaming up to protect Appalachia from the Crooked Man (Martin Bassindale, Masters of the Air), a soul collector for the devil.
Brian Taylor (Crank) is the director of Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Other cast members include Jefferson White (Yellowstone) as Tom Ferrel, Leah McNamara (The Gentlemen) as Effie Kolb, Joseph Marcell (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) as Reverend Watts, and Hannah Margetson (Min kamp) as Cora Fisher.
Jack Kesy is the Third Live-Action Hellboy
Ron Perlman was the first actor to play Hellboy on the big screen, making his debut as the character in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy film from 2004. Perlman reprised the role for the 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army. He has since campaigned to return for another film, but it would need to have del Toro back at the helm. With Perlman now 74 years old, the window for a return may be quickly closing, though he teased last year that he's still up for it.

"If we were to make the third movie of the trilogy, I would love to do that, yeah," Perlman explained. "It was meant to be three movies, so... I would go back and do it, if we could finish the trilogy. But those are the only circumstances."
David Harbour would take over the role for an unconnected standalone Hellboy film released in 2019. Directed by Neil Marshall, the film underperformed at the box office, dashing any chances for a sequel to be developed. Making matters worse was its critical reception, as it scored a very low 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. By having Mike Mignola more directly involved, many fans are hoping that the next reboot with Jack Kesy won't have the same fate.
Hellboy: The Crooked Man doesn't have a release date set but is expected to arrive later in 2024.
