Andy Murray reveals he is eager to 'feel the buzz' of Centre Court again as two-time winner faces anxious wait to see if he will be able to take part in Wimbledon singles one last time

Andy Murray wants to 'feel the buzz' of Centre Court at Wimbledon again Murray is likely to make a final call on his fitness on the day of the match 

Andy Murray says he is looking for ‘closure’ and ‘to feel the buzz’ on Centre Court one last time as his battle to be fit for the Wimbledon singles looks set to go down to the wire.

In the Scot’s first press conference since spinal surgery to remove a cyst that was causing nerve pain in his right leg, he said he was feeling better every day.

‘I have just been trying to do everything I can to try and get ready to start the tournament here. I don't know if that's going to be enough,’ said the two-time champion. ‘I've been practising for the last few days. I played a set today. It went pretty well, but I still don't have 100 per cent feeling and sensation in my leg yet.

‘It's getting better every single day. I'm hopeful that continues and it's going to be enough to be on the court on Tuesday.

‘Like I said a few days ago, I want to give it every single chance that I can to get there.

Murray will make a late call on whether he will take on Tomas Machac in the first round

‘I'm going to play another set again tomorrow. I'm doing some physical testing in the morning to see how far off I am from a physical perspective. Then I will probably make a decision tomorrow (Monday) evening after that.’

Murray is due to face Tomas Machac on Tuesday and, despite his claim he would decide on his fitness the night before, it would be no surprise for him to delay a final call until the day of his match.

The 37-year-old, who plans to retire after the Olympics, was asked what he is looking to get out of what would be a final appearance at Wimbledon.

Murray has won Wimbledon twice and wants to compete in the singles one last time

‘Well, the opportunity to play here again for the last time,’ he replied. ‘This is a place that's obviously been really good to me over the years.

‘Whether afterwards I feel like that was the right thing to do or not, I don't know. But right now I feel like I want that opportunity.

‘Maybe a bit of closure. I just want the opportunity to play one more time out there, hopefully on Centre Court, and feel that buzz.’
