Matriculation spots for all SPM top scorers regardless of race, says PM
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the education ministry and higher education ministry will work out the details for the initiative together.
PETALING JAYA: All students who score 10As and above in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, regardless of race or background, will be guaranteed a spot in matriculation colleges starting with next year’s intake, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In a statement, Anwar said the education ministry and the higher education ministry will work out the details for the initiative together.
“This decision ensures that all top SPM students have the best opportunities to pursue higher education,” he said.
He added that the existing Bumiputera quota for the matriculation programme would not be affected by the move.
