Fatal food poisoning: Investigation paper to be handed over to DPP once probe completed, says Selangor top cop

SHAH ALAM: Police have recorded the statements of 22 individuals in connection with last month's fatal food poisoning incident in Gombak.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the statements were needed as it was part of the process to complete the investigation.

"So far, we have recorded the statements of 22 individuals.

"Once the investigation is completed, we will refer the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor for further action," he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (July 2).

The food poisoning incident had led to two deaths after family members brought food back from a school event on June 8.

A 17-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl died days later after consuming what health authorities believe to be a meal of fried bihun and fried eggs that was served at a school event.

Selangor state health director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin previously said that the meal was catered by an external party and that out of the 247 people that ate the meal, 82 people (33%) exhibited symptoms.
