Rey Mysterio Books His Dream Retirement Match In WWE
- Rey Mysterio wants a retirement match in Mexico.
- He suggests a three-way dance with Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar.
- Retirement match could involve losing wrestler's mask or shaving head.
At 49 years old, Rey Mysterio has fewer years in front of him than he does behind him when it comes to his active professional wrestling career, particularly in WWE. Considering his career, a significant retirement angle is likely something he'll receive down the line, and the WWE Hall Of Famer has something in mind.
Rey Mysterio Has A Dream Retirement Scenario
Nowadays, WWE regularly puts on international premium live events. The company is fresh off a trip to Scotland for WWE's Clash At The Castle, while trips to Canada and Germany are coming up around the corner. However, one location people want to see the company run is Mexico.
It's a country with a passionate wrestling fanbase that would guarantee a great crowd, and it's something that Mysterio is interested in seeing happen, as he revealed to "Insight with Chris Van Vliet."
"Oh, that would be awesome. We haven't done one in Mexico. We've done events, we've done a TV, but we haven't done a PLE, so I think that would be most definitely a very exciting time for not only the fans but for me to be able to go back to where I once started to give them something special. Even if it's the last one, I would love to close off in Mexico, if that were to happen." (If you use any quotes from this article, please H/T The Sportster)
Not only does Mysterio have an ideal location in mind, but he's also got some potential opponents and a stipulation that he'd like to share his retirement match with.
"Why not, right? It would be perfect. I mean hell, if you want to get even dirtier, you can throw Dom in there, maybe Santos Escobar and myself, and the loser either takes his mask off and retires or shaves their head off and retires. Maybe a three-way dance, I don' know there's so many ways we can go."
Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio Have Kept Up Their Issues
The idea of Rey retiring in a match against his son could be a fitting way for him to wrap up his career, possibly even handing the mask over at that point. The two men have feuded for several years at this point, since Dominik turned on his father at the original WWE Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales.
Since then they've had several major matches, including a singles bout at WWE WrestleMania 39. While they've also ran several memorable angles that have taken place outside of the ring such as at the Mysterio family home.
