Revealed: The SEVEN Portugal stars who rushed to support sobbing Cristiano Ronaldo after his penalty miss... as new fan footage shows what Roberto Martinez's squad really think of him

Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears after missing a penalty against SloveniaThe 39-year-old was supported by his team-mates during the Euro 2024 clashLISTEN to It's All Kicking Off! EUROS DAILY: Do you love or loathe 'narcissistic main character' Cristiano Ronaldo?

New footage has emerged showing the true extent of support Cristiano Ronaldo received from seven Portugal team-mates after he was left in tears on Monday evening.

Ronaldo thought he had scuppered Portugal's Euro 2024 dream when his penalty in extra time was heroically saved by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

The 39-year-old had previously only missed 29 of his 192 career penalties and it all proved too much for the superstar to cope with as he began crying profusely during the short extra time interval.

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez was attempting to issue instructions to his squad during a team huddle, but Ronaldo didn't appear to take a word in as he struggled to stem the flow of tears.

Manchester United defender and Ronaldo's close friend, Diogo Dalot, pulled the emotional superstar to one side in an effort to calm him down while others issued words of encouragement.

It looked as if Ronaldo wouldn't be able to continue as he sobbed profusely at the Frankfurt Arena and if it wasn't for his supportive colleagues, then he might not have been.

Now, new footage filmed by a fan from the stands has showed how many Portugal stars rallied around the five-time Ballon d'Or winner just before extra time resumed.

Dalot kissed Ronaldo on the head before pushing him back onto the field of play before goalkeeper Diogo Costa shouted motivational comments at the forward and slapped him on the back.

Others then joined in with the universal effort to get Ronaldo to stop crying during the highly-emotional moment with Joao Palhinha hugging the veteran and Nuno Mendes making contact as he walked to his position.

They love Cristiano so so much ❤️

Diogo Jota, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva also joined in trying to calm Ronaldo down just seconds before play resumed in the Euro 2024 knockout clash.

He eventually managed to stem the flow just as the final 15 minutes of play got underway, with neither team able to break the deadlock as the match went to penalties.

Ronaldo was later reprieved for his earlier missed effort as he scored Portugal's first penalty, lashing a wicked shot into the bottom corner and again demonstrating his winning mentality.

Portugal will play France in the Friday's quarter-final with Ronaldo hoping to finally open his Euro 2024 goalscoring account.
