Newcastle are trying to negotiate a deal to sign Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as part of Elliott Anderson's move to the City Ground.

Anderson is moving to Forest in a deal worth around £35million and talks are underway for Vlachodimos to go in the opposite direction.

Eddie Howe is looking for competition for goalkeepers Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka.

Vlachodimos joined from Benfica last summer and made five appearances for Forest last season.

The 30-year-old played junior football for Germany up to Under-21 level but plays international football for Greece, winning 42 caps.
