The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced that the new date for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Postgraduate (NEET PG) will be announced soon.
According to NBE president Dr. Abhijat Sheth, the fresh date for NEET PG will be disclosed "hopefully before next weekend."
The NBE has already shared a plan with the Ministry of Education (MoE) for approval, and the new date will be released once the ministry gives its confirmation.
REASONS FOR NEET PG POSTPONEMENT
The NEET PG exam was postponed on June 22, less than 12 hours before the scheduled time. The sudden deferment sent shockwaves among students and raised concerns about the functioning of the exam body.
Dr. Sheth highlighted that the exam was cancelled to ensure the robustness of the exam process and to guarantee that there were no vulnerabilities. He clarified that there were no reports of a paper leak or any other lapses.
The NBE has a track record of seven years conducting NEET PG without any incidents of paper leaks due to its stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).
The postponement of NEET PG occurred amid a massive row over the NEET UG paper leak and the cancellation of the UGC-NET. The NEET PG is a crucial exam that assesses the eligibility of MBBS degree holders for enrollment in postgraduate medical courses in government and private medical colleges nationwide.
The delay has added to the anxiety of thousands of medical graduates who were preparing for the exam.
