Uh-oh: Is Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise transfer in jeopardy?
Done deal, or not so fast?
Bayern Munich looked to have closed a transfer swoop for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, but negotiations are apparently still ongoing between the clubs, who remain apart on the proposed fee.
Unlike Bayern’s other incoming transfer signing, VfB Stuttgart center-back Hiroki Itō, Olise does not have a release clause in his contract — which would have made the matter straightforward.
Instead, the clubs are as much as €8m apart by some accounts, with Bayern “shocked” that the negotiations have dragged on this long.
The source appears to be English journalist Alan Nixon, writing on Patreon, as captured by We Are Palace:
The Eagles are said to be demanding the full fee of what is now said to be £50m, while Bayern are shocked by this fact.
This is because the Bundesliga giants have learned that they had to offer £43m to open talks but it then increased to £50m in order to actually buy him.
It’s then added that Olise is yet to be cleared for a medical and Palace is happy to wait for the full figure and are under no pressure to let him leave Selhurst Park for a reduced fee.
Olise is an exciting talent and Bayern seem determined to get him. But as always with transfers, the saga isn’t over until it’s over. Can Bayern get this one over the line?
