Red Sox manager Alex Cora makes MLB trade deadline stance crystal clear

The Boston Red Sox currently hold a 43-38 record, which is good enough for third place in their division and just 1.5 games out of a wild-card spot.

With a month to go until the MLB trade deadline, Boston's front office will have to pick a direction with teams either selling, buying or standing pat.

Earlier this week Red Sox manager Alex Cora shared his feelings on the upcoming deadline and what their attitude should be.

"I can walk you through the trading deadline the way I see it," Cora said. "There are three ways you can go. You buy, you sell or you stay put. When you stay put there are going to be teams that added, and they're going to be better than you. It's not that your team was a bad team, but the other ones around you got better...

"We'll see what happens in a month, a month and a half. We just have to keep playing better baseball. I know we've been talking about the Wild Card and all that stuff, but let's get greedy. There are teams ahead of us that they're not playing good baseball... I think this brand of baseball, we can maintain the way we're playing. Let's not settle for the Wild Card. Let's go higher and see where the season takes us."

With just one or two pieces added in the next month, not including the return of first baseman Triston Casas, Boston would be in a great position to push for a wild-card spot.

They've played better than anyone expected this season, and they deserve to get some help.
