Parliament Session | Congress MP Manickam Tagore Describes Sengol As Symbol Of Kingdom | News18
Speaking of which, Manikam Tagore is also reacted to the remarks made by the SP MP. He says Sengal symbolizes Kingdom and nothing else. Remember the NDS time and again the BJP time and again emphasized on the Sangol calling it a symbol of justice, transfer of power, good governance. But here's what the Congress is stating in the latest says this is just a symbol of Kingdom. Aruma Arunima. Pretty much in line with what Mr. Chaudhary said that this is a sign of monarchy and not not democracy and hence it must not be given as much importance. And it's interesting that it's coming in from Manikam Tagore because you know, he's he's from Tamil Nadu and and that that Tamilian sentiment is what the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to showcase when the controversy was Senegal first erupted. But for money come to go to come out and, and just put it out in black and white as he claims. He says that this is not a symbol of anything but just, you know, your Kingdom. Its its a symbol of monarchy and not of a democracy. It will be interesting to see how the Bharatiya Janata Party now counters it because no longer are they talking about. You know this in in in the in terms of minority sentiments, they're talking of it in terms of political form of governance. They're talking of it in the form of how India should look at the Constitution and not look back at a monarchy symbol. It will be waiting to see how the BJP reacts. So far the BJP though, has come out to say that, you know, this is an old habit of the opposition bloc that they continue to insult Indias history, Indias culture and its tradition and Aruna. Very interestingly, these were the reactions that were coming in from the BJP when Sangol was first installed and similar criticism came in from the opposition ranks. Yes, it's, it's a Deja Vu moment. Once again, it's the same and, and suddenly all of us are not talking about what the president said, whether whether you know, neat issue will be addressed or not, whether there will be more jobs or not, whether price rise will be addressed or not, that the, the talking point has suddenly become Senegal. And and that's, that's also something that the opposition has often chided the treasury benches. And also some of us, for example, the opposition has always said that the treasury has utilized various platforms, including the media to take the discussions away from issues relevant to people and taken it away from issues that matter. Senegal is one more of that issue as per the opposition. Like I said, the BJP is only gonna escalate this further and use it against the opposition, but they've started to respond already.
