Met Office Monday Evening Weather Forecast 01/07/2024
Hello again. Through today we've seen a bit more cloud and a bit more rain across some parts than we have done recently and there is more wet changeable weather to come as we go through this week. That's because the jet stream is going to be running across the UK and this will be driving various features, bringing quite a bit of rain at times and also some strong blustery winds. Not necessarily the weather you'd expect at this time of year. But back to the here and now. And as we go through the rest of Monday, the front that's already brought some cloud and rain across northern parts is shifting its way South and eastwards across South southern eastern England. It is going to turn increasingly cloudy and a bit damp as we go through the night and head towards dawn on Tuesday morning. As this feature pushes its way S eastwards, there will be something a little bit clearer following in behind. So any places seeing some clear breaks in amongst the cloud and just a few showery bursts to watch out for. But it's not going to be an especially cold night. In fact, it's going to be pretty mild, especially in the towns and cities generally staying in double figures. In fact, across parts of the East SE where we have that thicker cloud because of that lingering front, it's going to be pretty mild indeed. That lingering front does mean it's going to be a grey, cloudy, damp start to the day across eastern South eastern England. There will be some drizly rain here, eventually clearing away towards the SE Elsewhere, perhaps a greater chance of some bright or sunny spells compared to Monday for many of us, but also few showers to watch out for. And then some more showery rain feeding in across parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland and NW England as well. Eastern parts of Scotland, North East England, many central southern areas. Once that drizzly, cloudy, wet weather clears away, it's actually looking largely fine here. Some sunshine around and in any sunshine not feeling too bad. Temperatures similar to Monday really. Mid to high teens, perhaps low 20s. Quite likely 21 or 22 Celsius towards the southeast through Tuesday night into Wednesday. We are going to see the cloudy, wet weather across northern parts shifting southwards. So although it's looking like a largely dry evening in the South, it is going to turn pretty cloudy and a bit wet as we go through overnight. So fairly wet start for some of us as we wake up on Wednesday morning. But because of the unsettled weather, it is again going to be a mild start. In fact, Tuesday night looks like it could be a little bit milder than this coming night. Widely staying in double figures, some places only dropping as low as like 14 or 15 Celsius perhaps through Wednesday itself. Then lots of cloud, lots of rain around. Most places likely to see some rain at times and that cloud could be quite low. So we could have some hill fog, particularly across western parts could cause some localised problems. The rain doesn't look especially heavy initially, but as that first feature clears way towards the east, there is going to be a second band following in behind and this could have some heavier bursts mixed in with amongst it. But nonetheless, it is going to be a quite a cloudy, wet day and there could be some strong winds mixed in with this, particularly towards the northwest of the UK. It is going to be quite humid in the southeast, but generally temperatures are going to be a little bit lower than on Tuesday and feeling cooler, feeling less pleasant because of the cloud, the rain, and for some of us, those strong winds. Looking through the rest of the week And as we go into Thursday, this feature is going to clear its way towards the east. And then we do have a relatively deep area of low pressure developing somewhere towards the North Sea. And this could bring some showers and some strong blustery winds across northern parts in particular, before another area of low pressure pushes it pushes its way in from the southwest, affecting southern parts or many parts of the UK. Bring some wet and windy weather on Friday, but we will have more information on that on our YouTube channel and he has our week ahead weather video available there. And do head to our website where you will find some advice on how to make sure you are weather ready with some further wet weather to come through this week. I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
