Met Office Saturday Morning Weather Forecast 29/06/2024
Welcome to your Saturday morning weather update from the Met Office. A bit of a dampened drizzly sandwich for the final Saturday of June. We've had a weather system edging in through the night, making for a grey start for much of Wales. Northwest England Rain and drizzle on and off here for a good part of the day. Some patchy rain too for the South of Northern Ireland that should clear through and either side of this dollar zone will have some good spells of sunshine across East Anglia and South East England, along with a good part of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Still few showers across the far north of Scotland. Still quite breezy here as well, but not as windy as it was during Friday. We'll also see. 3 way split with the under this cloudier zone, particularly around the coast and hills where it's damp and drizzly. Temperatures struggling in the mid teens at best. With a bit of brightness we'll get to 18°. Maybe Southern Scotland and Northern Ireland with lighter winds should feel too bad. Still on the cool side across the far north with gusty conditions here, but the highest temperatures across the southeast E Anglia 2324, maybe a 25°C and that is slightly above average. Not the heat of earlier in the week, but temperatures, as I say, a little bit above average here. Compared to the whole of June, that's what this map is showing, and you can see the blue hues there, suggesting that parts of north and West Wales, northwest England and northern Scotland will be a touch below average. But most places. Close to the average for the time of year now. The rain and drizzle across northern England and Wales will slowly creep S through this evening, but as that band of cloud and rain does so it does tend to weaken and fizzle out. Just left with a few light showers for Sunday morning across East Anglia and the southeast. A few showers will keep going in northern Scotland. Many places will turn dry overnight and again this line of cloud is marking the boundary between the warmer air and the cooler conditions. So ahead of it, it will be quite a warm night tonight. Across the South some towns and cities may hold up at 15 or 16, whereas further north will be down into single figures and and well down into single digits in some parts of the countryside. On to the details for tomorrow. We do start pretty drab far South of England and East Anglia, but cloud will tend to see some spells of sunshine developing. One or two scattered showers over northwest England and Wales, but generally here a lot drier than today. We will see a bit more rain heading into Shetland, but most areas fine tomorrow. Quite a bit of cloud but we'll see bright or sunny spells coming through at times but struggling to have that much of an impact on the temperatures generally. Mid to high teens, maybe into the 20s across the South. So temperatures on Sunday around or maybe a touch below average for the time of year. And that's how will stay, I suspect, for much of the week ahead with the weather tending to chop and change. A fair bit. For more details on that, keep up to date with everything from the Met Office.
