Treyarch is reportedly developing its first-ever Warzone map

Over the years, Treyarch has given us arguably the best set of maps that any Call of Duty studio has ever produced, thanks to Nuketown, Standoff, Summit, and Firing Range. The list of iconic maps could go on and on, and its overall portfolio is second to none.

The studio also has a top-tier battle royale map with Blackout, but it has never produced one of these landscapes for Warzone.  Until now.

Treyarch is reportedly building a Warzone Resurgence map

Over the last five years, studios such as Raven Software, Toys for Bob, and Infinity Ward have all gotten their hands dirty in Warzone's mud. Now, Treyarch is reportedly following suit, albeit with some small snags.

According to "BobNetworkUK", the leaker who also recently revealed that Treyarch is taking Warzone back to Verdansk later in 2025, Treyarch is making its own Resurgence map, which will port with Black Ops 6.

This map is reported for a Season 1 release alongside updates to Urzikstan, as the Verdansk port has reportedly been delayed until later in 2025.

The Resurgence map is being named Area 99, and BobNetworkUK also eluded to the possibility that Black Ops maps, like Blackout, might be worked into the layout.

It does raise some scepticism, though, as Treyarch will likely want to introduce its omnidirectional movement to Warzone, making it the first map in the BR with this movement.

The leaker released the report on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a picture of the Black Ops Cold War map Amerika. Admittedly, they didn't comment on whether the landscape would be used or whether it was just a placeholder.

Interestingly, Amerika is also seen in the BOCW Campaign mission Redlight, Greenlight (not the Squid Game kind) and can also be found in Forsaken on Zombies.

Area 99 would be the fourth Resurgence map in the game, as Ashika Island was permanently removed. It would likely join the roster alongside Vondel, Fortune's Keep, and Rebirth Island.
