Lt.-Gen Jennie Carignan becomes Canada’s next Chief of the Defence Staff

Lieutenant General Jenny Carrignon has been selected as Canada's next chief of the Defense Staff, making her the first woman to serve as our military's top commander. Karen Yong was the military's chief of professional conduct and culture until now. She said multiple deployments to war zones, including command positions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Karen Yell will take over from General Wayne Eyre, who has been in the role since 2021.
